Great food I was taken here when I was in town for vacation. I loved it! Hush puppies were great. The food was reasonably priced and very fresh. Absolutely no complaints.
My parents LOVE this place Darrells reminds me of a place where you'd ask the locals where they eat. It's not open on Sunday so plan to go during the week and Saturday. The food is really good. It's not fancy smanshy seafood it's local fried, broiled hushpuppy seafood and I love it. Your sides are corn, veggies and not rice pilaf. Wow! Great breakfasts! My first time eating there, I ordered a sausage bisquit, and when my bill was only $1.50, I thought they made a mistake. They didn't. My meal was on Special that day. Darrell's has great breakfast, AWESOME sweet potato pancakes, and some of the best seafood I have ever eaten. Great customer service, and they definitely know their regulars. It's an unassuming place that I wouldn't have expected to be so great. When I am in town on business, I eat there about every other day.
The seafood here is terrible. If anybody can ruin good seafood, it is this place. The food was overcooked in months-old oil that should have been replaced weekly. And the portions were very skimpy for the price. Do not eat here !

Dora and Darrell Daniels opened the Polar Bear Drive-In serving their signature home-made barbecue to local fishermen. Years later their son and eventually his son took over and evolved the menu and building into Darrell's Seafood Restaurant, where any local in the know will send you for the best fired oysters, Oyster Stew served "milk" style, She Crab Soup made with sherry, and fried combo platters of fresh caught Outer Banks seafood.
