GP visits are extremely expensive. I was charged over $100 out of pocket simply because my appointment went slightly longer while I was explaining my health issue. I was told the extra charge was for taking additional minutes. There was no clear warning about time-based billing before the consultation. If a patient explains their concern quickly, are they charged less? Patients should not feel rushed or penalised financially for properly discussing their health. The lack of transparency around fees is very disappointing.
The last four times I have seen Dr Cheema, he has been more than 30 mins late. Today, waiting 1 hour, despite reception telling me I’m next. I sat & waited whilst he called the patient after me through before me. He then rushes through the appts because he’s running so far behind, then you need to rebook and the same thing happens again. These have all been early morning appts, I’d hate to think how bad it gets throughout the day. In any case, today’s visit was my last.
Dr Indika has been my GP at Darlington Medical Centre for a while now and he is genuinely one of the best doctors I have seen. He actually listens, asks questions and takes the time to understand what is going on instead of just handing over a script and rushing to the next patient. He explains test results and treatment options in plain English so you walk out knowing what the plan is and why. Highly professional team, very person centred approach from the lovely receptionists to GP consults and other services. A one stop shop is very convenient and any further consults are managed in a prompt manner.
