I saw Dr. Blatz several years ago a few times and he insisted I had a bad back. He said exercises in a book would cure me. He was very reluctant to give me an MRI, but agreed to begrudgingly. Still he didn't change his diagnosis. Thankfully, years later, my careful PT figured out what was really wrong and I successfully had surgery to repair my torn buttock muscles. Careless and arrogant.
I highly recommend Dr. Blatz. He is a great doctor, spent a lot of time with me, and provided a detailed plan for recovery. His office is responsive, and one of the best experiences I've had at HSS.
Dr. Blatz billed $500 for 15 minutes (generous, likely closer to 10) and didn't do much of an evaluation at all. He diagnosed my issue without seeing me move at all and then only as a cursory gesture did he do any exam. He was arrogant and disinterested. I could not more strongly recommend not going to him.
I have been under the care of Dr. Blatz for about 4 months now and cannot sing his praises enough. After years of care at WestMed, I can honestly say that Dr. Blatz’s knowledge, thoroughness and his bedside manner especially are second to NONE. I had my second bilateral spinal epidural with him today and he is just so kind, gentle and calming. He explains everything every step of the way and makes the time go by so quickly.
