Dr Covey basically sewed my right arm back on in 2010. He fixed the distal bicep attachment, the bicep muscle, the bicep tendon, the superspinatus and tendon, the lat, scapula, scapula muscle attachments, A/C joint, major debridement and decompression of the shoulder joint. Previous to his fantastic work my R arm was just strapped to my body. Later my pectoralis major was reattached to my R humorus. I can now swim and throw a baseball. Dr. Covey is a nice older man, but after the appnt and reading the visit notes, I didn't feel that I was given clear accurate information. I feel that I was politely patronized. I called back and tried to make an appnt with another Orthopedic surgeon per the referral who "might be a better fit for me." I was told that I couldn't, and my options were to make another appnt with Dr. Covey or leave the UCSD system. Everyone was wonderful! I was taken in to see the doctor within 5 minutes. The front desk ladies were so nice. As I was signing in, I mentioned I’d also been having hip pain, they got me a referral from my primary care and messaged me to say they had booked an appointment for me. Great service! Thank you.
Get ready to wait more than an hour at least. Doesn't matter your appointment is early in the morning or during the day. You gotta wait. It is my second appointment and same story
Horrible office to work with, poor communication, messed up my insurance thus delaying my MRI scan on multiple occasions, and did not follow up on anything. They even asked me who did my MRI, even tho they sent the referral to the external imagining specialist. Will never use the UCSD system again.
