Called them a few days later (on 9th or 10th) and got the answering service who said she would give him the message. I finally got a call from him on 16 Jan, when I was in Florida for a funeral. He seemed unaware of my email and said the "answering service" was his wife. I got the distinct impression that his wife only gave him the message on that day.
