I have two dogs that were rescued from an abusive home. They are about 5 years old now, and they are still skittish when going to the vet. The staff at Dakota Pet Hospital suggested that we "socialize" the dogs by coming in, let the dogs sniff around, and have a staff member give them treats, all without doing anything to the dog.
