Over the last 25 years, DAI has been a pioneering force in the successful development of master-planned communities along the Wasatch Front. Established in 1991, DAI and its founders sought to create a place where people can live, grow, and create memories with their families. In the pursuit of that endeavor, the founders of DAI created Candlelight Homes, which has established over 8,000 acres of safe, connected, and vibrant places to live throughout the state of Utah.

If you're a city planner or developer considering working with them—proceed with extreme caution. DAI has a pattern of walking away from partially completed projects in favor of chasing new ones, leaving communities with NO support. They frequently deflect responsibility onto city officials and rely on HOA management companies to spread misleading updates that protect their image rather than inform residents. For a company tasked with building a master-planned community, their lack of follow-through and accountability is dee... read more
Run as fast as you can, and if you’re a city developer reading these reviews I’d think twice before doing anything business with DAI. They abandon projects that are half finished to start new ones, pass off blame on the cities to cover their tracks, and use the HOA companies to disseminate misleading information to cover their reputation. I can’t imagine a worse company to develop a master community project.
I moved into the Wildflower community 6 years ago and they have been in charge of building out the amenities. Still nothing to show for the literal thousands of dollars I have given them via the HOA. 0 accountability, 0 transparency, and no project development skills. Based on my experience, it looks like they are syphoning money at every homeowners' expense only to provide shotty craftsmanship. Would give less stars if possible.
DAI left a big pile of dirt behind my property, instead of adding proper drainage that will last. I also now can’t use my gate. The trail is eroding because of their lack of adding proper drainage. It’s June 2025 and the drainage system was added Dec 2024. Other neighbors have had entire retaining walls collapse as a result of their lack of planning. They do the bare minimum and cut corners. Do NOT recommend.
DAI seemed like a really proactive and great developer, they had a great plan for the community, then something bigger came along, and our community got left in the dust. Broken promises, failing infrastructure, failure to obtain appropriate permits or even water rights to name a few. Our HOA is controlled by them, until buildout reaches somewhere around 75% even though they have sold off all further development to other entities. They are using HOA funds to fix their own incompetence, and we as residents cannot do anything ... read more
