I dined for lunch at Cypress Hall in Downtown New Bern. The decor is great. I liked the exposed brick and high ceilings in the historic building. It also feels modern. One half feels historic and the other half feels modern with the artwork, mirrors, and finishes. The lighting is dim but you can still read the menu. Wow!! What an incredible experience! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! There were 6 of us and there wasn’t a crumb left on our plates.
The space is gorgeous intimate, industrial, and refined. Cocktails are absolutely incredible. But the food was underwhelming, and while service was prompt and efficient, it was also cold to the point of making us feel like a bother. Beautiful room, great drinks, but I wouldn't rush back.
Really good food. The brisket burger is awesome. The Frites are very good.
Yikes. This place is incredible when it comes to service and drinks! But they have done away with the best parts of the menus. No more AMAZING fried oysters, no more gundi. Just some oysters doused in vinegar and shallots and some meaty dishes. These are the things that used to set them apart and make it worth the price, the new menu is bland. Super disappointing.
