Really not for kids under 10. Took 6 kids 6 and under and waited 1.5 hours. While in the end, the kids were excited, it wasn't a great experience for the damily. If the weather is good , there is a long wait to look at any telescope, and especially to go upstairs. You wait in the room and hope to get a seat. In the room, there is no enterainment. For $5 Dollars you get to learn about the universe. How to figure out North and South. You take a moment and see how big and small the world is. Great for all ages. Recommend a good leaning chair or blanket bug spray, and Red lights. Learned that red lights are easier on the eyes for night time viewing.
I have been to this observatory countless times. Best weekend getaway for I’m NYC. I can’t wait to go back. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly.
