Really not for kids under 10. Took 6 kids 6 and under and waited 1.5 hours. While in the end, the kids were excited, it wasn't a great experience for the damily. If the weather is good , there is a long wait to look at any telescope, and especially to go upstairs. You wait in the room and hope to get a seat. In the room, there is no enterainment. Only about 12-15 people can go up at a time. It has two small flights of stairs that are steep. Once you reach the top you sit again to wait to view thru the telescope for about 10 ... read more

For $5 Dollars you get to learn about the universe. How to figure out North and South. You take a moment and see how big and small the world is. Great for all ages. Recommend a good leaning chair or blanket bug spray, and Red lights. Learned that red lights are easier on the eyes for night time viewing.

I have been to this observatory countless times. Best weekend getaway for I’m NYC. I can’t wait to go back. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly.
