Absolutely a disgrace. Badin lake down 4+ feet all year and high rock and tillery are only down 2 feet. All they care about is the money not how much the a impacting both the residents of badin lake but also the local economy. Half the people on the lake cant even get there boat in the water. Alge growth is absolutely ridiculous as well because of such low battery traffic from people not being able to get there boat in.
Cube Hydro is disproportionately taking water from Badin Lake while leaving the other two lakes it manages, Tuckertown and High Rock, at far higher water levels. When you ask Cube about their practices, they quickly cite Federal regulations that allow them to draw down our water. Meanwhile, we have black algae growing like crazy, fish kill will be next, and the area's businesses, homeowners, and visitors suffer revenue loss, property value declines, and inability to use areas their tax dollars support. Cube Hydro had closed off the bypass tunnels. They put a fence across the entry canal, and posted no trespass and video surveillance signs. After 100 years of a unique paddler experience, big Corp has made the tunnels unaccessable.
