Cubby Bear North is not worth it Ugh...what a disaster! My husband's band played a show there last night and the sound guy was a complete jerk! He obviously is new at running sound because he couldn't figure out when the band wanted more/less sound in their monitors and called them "idiots" and asked if they'd ever played live before. Umm....yea, buddy, they've all been playing live for the last 20 years! He left them standing on the stage, waiting to play, with house music playing, for 10 minutes. This Cubby Bear is one of the best places to go in the suburbs to catch a game, grab a drink, and hang out with some friends. It is gigantic and offers a lot of tvs, good food, and plenty of room on outside decks to drink or play a game of bags. I highly recommend this.
Why? I do not understand what the big deal is about this restaurant. We received a certificate for dinner a couple of months ago and finally went a little while back. The atmosphere, there really isn't one, its like a huge stadium, the decor is nothing to write home about. The food, it's expensive for what you get, there are plenty of other nicer restaurants in the area with good food, don't bother!
decent bar Not a bad place to go for a quick burger and beer with the buddies. Somewhat of a odd atmosphere as it looks like a large gym. The food is ok and they have various parties throughout the year.
Big bar with good live music Cubby Bear North is a large bar, 2 level bar, and a nice alternative to tiny, cramped suburban bars. It's a very low-key place, not the type of establishment where you really have to dress up. They also have consistently good live music, so it's worth checking out.
