An incredible experience! We had so much fun and learned so much from our visit to Crystal Ball Cave! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. We took our 3 and 5 year old and they loved it. The tour is usually 1-2 hours but we had so many questions that it lasted almost 3 hours. Let me be clear. The cave is BIG. Much larger than we had thought and much larger than Timpanogos cave, both in room sizes and square footage. Let that sink in. Yes, there are bats. This was such a unique cave experience. Personally guided by the family with all the history. Rustic, not developed, no ADA access and must be able to hike a short but steep incline. No handrails, no lights, no stairs, no pavement, just like it might have been in the past. Make sure to bring your headlamp and be able to go navigate low ceilings. But still no problem for an out of shape 60 year old. Truly remarkable experience.
Out of the way, but worth the drive! We like to do things out of the box for spring and fall break, and this was a hit with the family! We stayed at the ranch in a tiny cabin for 2 nights, and went to the cave on Friday. Short drive to the trailhead, and a steep-ish 1/4 mile hike to the entrance. Our tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable, and helped all of us understand the importance of not touching the sensitive surfaces. Probably the most hidden and underrated natural feature in all of Utah. It's quite literally in the middle of nothing, 30 miles from the nearest paved road... and 60 miles from the nearest 'town'. But it is absolutely worth it. Our tour guide gave us an awesome and personal tour that was around an hour in length, plus a hike to and from the cave entrance and exit.
