Crown Oil began in 1931 by Paul J. Fanelli, Sr., son of Italian immigrants, in their backyard garage. He delivered ice and range oil to residences and was the 7-Up® distributor for area markets. He soon took on a partner, Angelo Spinelli, and both worked the business to include home heating oil and service. After Paul's death in 1979 and Angelo's retirement, the business remained in the Fanelli family with Anna (Paul's widow) and her children.
