CrossFit 161 is an outstanding gym with an incredibly welcoming and supportive community. What really sets it apart, is the coaching staff. Every coach is knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely invested in helping members succeed, no matter their fitness level or experience.
I have nothing but absolute, glowing praise for the whole coaching team and members of this gym. I've been coming for over a year now between personal one-on-one sessions and group classes. As someone that had never stepped foot into a gym before, it was initially very intimidating, but my experience with the coaches and even the other members was everything but. Great coaches! Great people! This community is so supportive, encouraging and genuinely caring. They make every effort to ensure proper form/technique and modify exercises whenever needed. The small class size enables all of these things to happen and the other CrossFit members are equally supportive. Definitely check it out if you’ve been considering it!
The lack of supervision is terrifying. You have people with zero lifting experience trying to do high-rep Olympic lifts while the coaches stand around scrolling on their phones or chatting. It’s a recipe for a slipped disc, and the "coaches" are clearly too out of shape to actually move around and correct anyone’s posture.
CrossFit 161 has a 4.8 star rating with 38 reviews.
