My husband was hospitalized for five weeks due to complications from a stroke, and ended up at this facility after discharge from ECU, while we waited for a bed to be available elsewhere. The beds were so small for my very tall husband. The director did send for a bed to fit him, but was still not very comfortable. The food was terrible, and they couldn’t seem to get his diet right, I had to go out twice to get him some food as the kitchen closes down and nothing available. My father died here back in June. When I called the Administrator and Director of Nursing about him not getting his Morphine on the night shift, they never returned my phone call. When he passed away, they kept his screaming roommate in the room with my father’s body and my sister in the bed crying. She couldn’t even grieve in private. Stay far, far away from this place.
DEATH TRAP. Our grandmother died within 5 days of going here. They "lost" her teeth and belongings day one! (That's the most active they've been, running around denying responsibility). When they finally did, my grandmother died the next day after being rushed to the ER. They neglected to check her breathing all night! I feel compelled to share my experience with Croatan Ridge Nursing Home, as it has been deeply troubling. This facility is not a place where you want to leave your loved ones. The care provided is inadequate, and I have witnessed firsthand how residents are often neglected until they reach a critical state, only to be rushed to the hospital when it’s almost too late.
