Dr Crites has performed 3 knee surguries (torn menus) and 1 torn rotator cuff and muscles tear. I At age 72 I am lucky to be in able to still do whatever I want. I recommend Dr Crites.
I went in for shoulder pain and Dr. Crites did not listen. He moved my arm in two directions then gave me a script for PT and pain medicine. He was not compassionate. He moved on to his next patient. Too many good ortho docs in Ankeny to put up with Dr. Crites.
I went with a friend to be seen today. Dr. Crites stated my friend needed surgery. Then quickly tried to leave the room. My friend had questions to ask. Dr. Seemed very rushed even opening the door and attempting to leave as my friend was trying to get more information. He was in the room with us for a total of 3 minutes.

Dr Crites operated on my husband's shoulder the end of November. He had a complete rotator tear and bicep muscle frayed. My husband being 82 got thru the surgery great with a big thank you to Dr Crites. He is very compassionate and explains everything until you completely understand . Very caring surgeon. Gives you all the time you need. Highly recommend him.
I had a torn labrum, torn rotator cuff, and bone spurs in my left shoulder. Dr. Crites was caring, knowledgeable, and took the time to answer my many questions. He did a great job with the surgery. I recovered quickly and fully. I trust him completely and would not hesitate to recommend him. A good person and and a great surgeon. A good combination!
I found Dr. Crites to be knowledgeable, caring and friendly. Explained problems and procedures and made sure they were understood.
Wouldn't let him operate on my dog. He does not care one bit about his patients. He won't let the anesthesiologist do nerve blocks for pain control because he doesn't want to wait the 5 minutes. My son was in such horrible pain after a shoulder surgery that could have easily been prevented with a nerve block. Should not be allowed to practice medicine.
