Apparently I'm not allowed to access services there because I live in Qualicum, even though I have had disagreements with the psychiatrist in Oceanside, who left me struggling to function 8 months ago. I've been flailing and trying to get help ever since, but because of Island's Health blatant discrimination against your living area and refusal to services. Amazing psychiatrists and counselors
I have been going regularly for nearly 10 years because private therapy is expensive. I have been counselled at my best and my worst, and each time I have walked away the better for it. If you view BL as a system of services you are navigating, you'll quickly find gaps and inconsistencies. But if you go up there to talk to a kind and insightful person that genuinely cares, you will find empathy, connection, and probably a handful of useful skills to try.
