Co-owners Emily Carroll and Megan Culton, who between them have over 20 years experience working in and managing salons in New York City, shared a vision for a salon that provided a gender-affirming, low-toxin environment for clients and stylists to explore their passion and creativity, and so Creature of Habit was born.

This review is longgggg overdue but I had a wonderful first experience here and cut by Emily M. Booking was super easy and they even have a quiz to match you with a stylist. Emily was very welcoming and easy to talk to, and made sure to ask questions to be super clear on what I wanted. The shampooing was also super luxurious and I believe they even offered a complimentary beverage at the beginning. Great first cut and color by Bella...she's got my style !
I've been around for a long time (octogenarian here) and have had many haircuts by numerous stylists. Emily Carroll is, by far, the absolute best ever. I just had a haircut that I can't rave enough about. She made my hair look absolutely amazing, the shape, the curl, the texture. I love it so much that I don't want to wash it, although I know that's the true test and I'll have to do it in another day or so. Emily: thank you, thank you, thank you!
