My appointment was at 3:20 pm. I was taken to a patient room at 3:40 pm and asked to change into the cloth covers preparing for my annual. At 4:40 pm, I could hear the doctor still chatting with the only other patient there, all personal stuff. I reminded the nurse twice that my appointment was at 3:20. She said she’d tell him. She never did. I finally couldn’t wait any longer so I changed and walked out. I've been going to Dr. Ruetzel since 2020. I couldn't ask for a better more understanding GYNO. His bedside manner is amazing and he explains things and talks to you like you are a person instead of spitting medical jargon that the layman doesn't fully understand. I will be so sad when our time comes to move from here and I will have to leave his practice. They have just always gone above and beyond to help me with solutions to my gyno problems.
I have been avoiding male gynecologist my entire life. At 38 I decided to give in because Dr. Reutzel had good reviews online and I wasn’t getting help anywhere else. Best decision I ever made. I have never felt so heard and listened to. He made me feel so comfortable and all the issues I had with other doctors have not one single time been an issue with him. Dr. Ruetzel was wonderful with my daughter 16 months ago when she had her first child. She had to have a c-section and he did a perfect job. Even the nurses at Chesapeake Regional had high praises for him. My daughter and I see NP Emma on an annual basis. She, too, definitely attended her bedside manner classes in medical school. Terrific practice and staff.
I saw this doctor many years ago because I was suffering with extreme menstrual pain every month and I asked for a hysterectomy as I had been diagnosed with severe endometriosis and he refused the surgery because I was in pain management because it was so bad and he didn't agree with me "claiming " I was in so much pain that I needed medication for it well it turned out once I found a legit ob/gyn that I also had cervical cancer so I wasn't just making up the pain for pills as he implied.
