Magical stay at Country Woods Inn! We stayed in the Santa Fe Railroad car overlooking the hay meadow, tucked back among the trees, and it truly felt like a little escape from everything. Such a peaceful, unique place to stay in Glen Rose—we absolutely loved it. Sitting on the steps with my friends as the horses and a very special donkey walked up to greet us. Everything was provided to make it clean and comfortable experience for the family.

Santa Fe Train Wreck: A Rat in Our Railcar We booked the Santa Fe Railcar at Country Woods Inn in Glen Rose for what was supposed to be a memorable mother-son getaway. Instead, our stay ended with us fleeing the property at night after I personally witnessed a rat moving toward my child’s bed. This was not simply an unpleasant experience. We arrived at Country Woods Inn around 9 p.m., expecting a charming farmhouse getaway. What we got was something closer to a constant headache. We rented the East Side of the Farmhouse, which is a two room cabin, with the rooms separated by a connecting door. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Country Woods Inn in Glen Rose! The property is beautiful, peaceful, and full of charm. Everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully taken care of. It’s the perfect place to slow down, relax, and enjoy the beauty of the Texas Hill Country. One of our favorite parts was the complimentary breakfast buffet served in the barn.
