My experience at Counter 3. Five. VII. was not what i expected. Two stars for the atmosphere, which was nice enough, and the seating was quick. The overall experience was a disappointment. I had such high hopes after a chef friend recommended. But to be very clear, the service was terrible at best, making me regret my decision to dine here over another highly recommended restaurant close by. Stopped in for a drink at their lovely front lobby bar, and had the opportunity to try a little of their food also. Everything was fantastic! The bar staff were engaging and clearly love what they do. The food was incredible and almost too beautiful to eat. Don't plan on going on here without lightening your wallet though. Prices reflect excellent service and presentation.

The only reason that I rated one star is because I couldn't do zero. Almost the worst fine dinning restaurant I have ever tired. Environment: Okey at first (though very dim at the corner), but as soon as the hot courses started to serve, it became extremely intolerantly smoky. Food: All hot courses tasted bad. Delicious prix fixe menu. We got the wine pairing and it was totally worth it. It's a bit pricy, but the casual Austin-style atmosphere makes it fun and not too high brow. We wore slacks and a button down and fit in just fine. It gets a little smoky at times so be prepared to smell a bit like smoke/oil when you leave.
