The receptionist contacted me about my father whom is stage 4 cancer and carried on to say she’s calling because she’s trying to contact my father but he has no voice mail or does anyone in his family. Meanwhile this the first time I got this call this morning so I’m unsure what she is eluding to when no one has voicemail in his family as I mentioned what does that matter? This is a busy clinic with occasional scheduling issues, however, they've provided high quality care for my family for years and I'm grateful to have them. The receptionists are under a lot of pressure and can be very blunt, which I appreciate, but it may throw some patients off. Our doctor is very attentive and the reception always finds a way to help. If you can withstand the chaos of an overworked healthcare system, and its impact on small clinics like this, Cottage Medical is a diamond in the rough.
Dr Mateus is the worst family doctor I have ever seen. He had no idea how to help me with my edema, did not believe that I had sleep issues (after I went to a sleep specialist I found out that my sleep problems are severe and complex--I need a CPAP and medication), and when I came to him with my depression he told me to "take care of it myself". He has zero understanding or compassion about mental health issues and I fear that a person with less fortitude than I might harm themselves. Dangerous man. 100% do not recommend.
