My old provider was no longer on my insurance provider list so I needed to find a new provider. Dr. Cota was on my provider list. I called and the receptionist asked me if I have ever seen a psychiatrist before and I told her that I had. Immediately she said, "Then Dr. Cota will not take you as a patient." I was taken aback and explained that I only needed a new doctor because my old one was no longer covered under my insurance and she said, "Yeah, but he still won't see you." We hung up. WHAT?
Cota is not a doctor and if you need help please seek it somewhere else.
Dr. Cota refused to see a friend of mine who was suffering from severe depression and suicidal ideation, OCD and possibly bipolar 11 d/o. No compassion here.
Dr. Cota refused to provide a service to a family member with no explanation whatsoever. She went in for her appointment, filled out her paperwork and right before going in he said he didn't want to take her as a patient with no explanation as to why. I understand the doctors have the right to choose who they see, however the lack of explanation is extremely unprofessional. Don't waste your time.
If you need real help, DO NOT see Dr. Cota! I was referred to him by my PCP. He first sits you down to ask you questions to determine whether he will ACCEPT you. The fact that I have suffered abuse right away disqualified me from his services. I was very upset when he shot me down so coldly. He then immediately shooed me out and wouldn't give me time to gather myself. I waited MONTHS for a chance at getting real help from a real psychiatrist, just to be treated like an inconvenience.
