I visited the Costco Tire Service Center to utilize my road hazard warranty for a nail in my tire. Because they were booked out for two weeks, I first went to Discount Tire, where they kindly installed a temporary tire for free to bridge the gap. At my eventual Costco appointment, I requested a tire replacement under warranty, a tread wear check, and a rotation. I recently had my tires changed at this location about a month ago. I only just had the opportunity to thoroughly clean my wheels for the first time since the service. While cleaning, I noticed some scratches on the barrels of my rims that appear to be in the areas where the old wheel weights were previously attached. These marks were not present before the service and seem consistent with damage that can occur during tire or wheel weight removal. I understand occasional wear and tear is normal, but this far exceeds that.
