This is a terrific venue. They have a great beer selection, a good menu, and the live music area is just the right size.

I would give a much higher rating but I came here to see spacemoth and La Luz and the sound was terrible. The band was visibly pained by it. I had earplugs in and it was still so intense! The bass was so loud it was distorting. And this happened for both bands, so it wasn’t just the musicians’ setup. I have seen other reviews on here complaining about this. I’m not sure what needs to happen to fix this, but if the sound were better I would give five stars. spacemoth forever!!!

Have been here many times over the years. Never for the live venue though. I would say this place is not often packed if there are no live events going on. I would say that's a plus if you want a reliably quiet spot, or a negative if you are looking for a good bar scene. This is definitely NOT a college bar, so wouldn't recommend for Cal students. They do have a great beer selection so there is a little bit of something for everyone.
