My mother was in the memory care unit at the Lodge for almost 10 years. The staff loved and cared for her, especially in her last years there. They brought in treats, gave parties for the residents, did her nails and hair and generally had endless patience with people with dementia. When my mom was in hospice in the last year, I happened to be there when the nurse from the hospice was there to check on my mom. Initially my review was poor because the staff was not great and care was less than ideal. But the team here has worked hard to make improvements and step it up. The nurses and managers are above and beyond! They do more than just the daily tasks, they take time to really know my mom. The aids… well that’s another story, some are awesome - and some seem like they should quit immediately because it’s clear they have no interest in caring for people. Do not work or bring your family here!! The company and the majority of its hires, do not care about your loved ones and in fact, cultivate and encourage this blasé, uncaring culture. They just see the residents as a source of income rather than people and treat them accordingly. They've had a string of high employee and staffing turnover with the most recent staffer that worked here being overworked, had constant call-ins without punishment, rude and downright disrespectful employee interactions, and no support from the ED ... read more
Copperfield is not a good place for your loved one suffering from dementia. What they offer is a service that will warehouse people in a locked confined space. Your loved one will have no access fresh air and sunlight unless you come and take them outside. The menu is subpar - hotdogs and soup. No or minimal programs to support socialization and quality of life. Limited staff to care for your loved one. Some staff don’t even understand how to care and support loved ones with Dementia. My loved one got worse when living at th... read more
