Disappointing scheduling and communication. After my initial appointment, I was told I needed to be seen every four months and, while still in the office, staff scheduled my next appointment as a telehealth visit. Dr. Derik Velázquez exhibited a lack of appropriate bedside manner during his interaction with my mother. As a physician who is new to her care, it is important that he demonstrate empathy, establish rapport, and communicate in a supportive and reassuring manner. His approach unfortunately caused unnecessary anxiety during the visit. Relocating to a new area and transitioning to a new healthcare team can already be stressful for senior patients. Loved Dr. Velazquez! He took really good care of my mom and was super nice the whole time. He made us both feel comfortable and answered all our questions. You can tell he really cares about his patients. Definitely recommend him!
