they are running a Monopoly in the West Michigan area. Price gouging us with no fear because there is no other electric company in our area. I am struggling to pay my bills, and my home doesn't have air conditioning.
I'm from the South, where we have a reasonable expectation of power unless something catastrophic happens. Tornadoes. Ice storms. Even then, dedicated linemen rush out to restore power in hours. Yet in Michigan on a sunny August day we lose power for 7 hours because of "Trees". I've been told this is just part of living here. Other areas maintain their right of ways to avoid "trees" falling on lines. Not Consumers Energy. And we still pay 3-5X the rate we paid in the south for electricity. 20 years ago this was a great company. They have recently requested to the state the highest rate hike in their history. The service in my area has gone out so many times that my neighbors have invested in permanent whole house generators. In addition, their billing department is just plain terrible. We need another company to come in and give them some competition.
I think it’s ridiculous how they do these peak hours garbage us first shifters are getting the worst of it my bill triples every year they do this to us
