History Established in 1981. We opened our first hardware store on the corner of Coldwater Road and Dupont Road in the spring of 1981. In 1986 we opened our second location in Southgate Plaza on Pettit Road. We opened our third hardware store on West State Blvd in 1995. Finally, our fourth location on the corner of Scott Road & Illinois Road was added to the Connolly's Do it Best Hardware & Rental family in 2005. I have to give credit to the staff at Connelly’s for salvaging my day. I planned to aerate my lawn today, so I rented a lawn aerator today. Unfortunately, when I got it home I couldn’t keep it running. I returned to the store assuming my plans had been ruined. When they couldn’t locate another aerator at the other stores, they took a look at this machine and called me back within an hour to let me know it was running again. I can't brag about Connolly's Do it Best Hardware & Rental enough! After a frustrating visit to the local wood shack where I felt like the guy didn't want to be bothered, I decided to take another chance on Connoley's since they helped me out with a glass door to a hutch last week. I wasn't disappointed! Not only am I buying a finishing piece of wood trim for a buffet, but they are cutting it down to fit the drawers for me AND installing a missed slider on the bottom of one of the drawers. The Connolly's own three or four of these hardware stores around Fort Wayne and the one at Southgate is an excellent store. If you need something small, something specific - they are the best place in Fort Wayne to find it. Good prices on other stuff too. I bought my last lawnmower at Lowe's but it turned out Connolly's had the same mower a bit cheaper. I felt like an idiot. Worth checking Connolly's first.
Good local hardware store This is a small local store. I was suprised by the selection considering how small the building was. I was able to find everything that i needed (and i had a long list). The staff was especially helpful. And they had a BIG clearance table with good prices.
