I joined this program three years ago and it is legitimate. I do save about 10% on my monthly electrcity bill. Over three years this has added up to a sizeable amount of savings.
I have been using Common Energy for past six years in MA with little complains. Saved more than $330 along the way by using clean energy (solar). Their customer service has always been responsive and helpful when I occasionally needed help on billing or referral bonus. Highly recommended.
Overall I am happy with Common Energy. I can support green energy without much effort from my side and get paid for it since 2020. It did take more than a year for the project to come online and generate the savings, but after that it has smooth sailing. The area I hope to see improve soon is consolidated billing. Today there are 2 places I pay: 1 to Eversource (my local provider) and 2. Common Energy. The CommonEnergy credits are then available on the Eversource bill. Easy opt-in and minor but beneficial savings from your utility bill.
I was transferred to Common energy when Aradia power was bought out. They require each account to be on autopay but don't take payments out when scheduled. They have been extremely hard to get through to customer service or billing. You either leave a voicemail and maybe you get a return call or send an email and hope to get a response.
