For about the past 10 years I have been a loyal customer of @Choice Hotels and have held Platinum status for several years. Unfortunately, my most recent trip two weeks ago through Texas and New Mexico has made me reconsider that loyalty. I used the Choice Hotels app on my phone to book a room. I wanted to give this place 2 stars because the staff I interacted with were friendly and seemed to be doing their best, but for $173 a night, this hotel gets 1 star. This feels like a property that may have been decent years ago, but has been badly neglected. The carpets were filthy, there were dead bugs on the floor, cockroaches coming out of the sink, mold in the shower, grime on the shower head, and so much dust on the vents it looked like fur. Good location, but there always seems to be always something wrong with the room. Booked a King but got two doubles, due to a miss communication between booking with the hotels app and the hotel. Then the microwave and tv didn't work. Got switched to another room still two doubles, but it was fine quick enough with no trouble.

I hope this review is viewed by the management/owners and serious improvements are made. This hotel seems to be limping along on minimal service, cleaning, and upkeep. -A lamp in our room was missing 2 of 3 light bulbs. -Excessive rust on fixtures in the bathroom -Bathroom fan inoperable, excessive musty smell in whole room -Front desk staff nowhere to be seen for 5 minutes upon entering. I went with my mom and she paid for two nights before we came in, but the hotel cancelled our reservation because we didnt arrive the first day even though it was already paid for. When we paid again, the front desk wasn’t sure if we could stay until Thursday and mentioned an extra fee, which was confusing and stressful. On top of that, our room key stopped working multiple times, and we had to go to the front desk repeatedly to get it reactivated. Very frustrating experience overall. Wouldn’t recommend
