From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, I was surrounded by some of the most compassionate and caring people. The nurses who prepared me for surgery, the staff in the operating room, the surgeon (Dr Ronald Walters) and everyone involved in my care treated me with such kindness and professionalism.I especially want to recognize the incredible nurse who cared for me in PACU (Brian Ayres) He showed me much compassion during a time when I was feeling nervous and vulnerable. Tried to take my father to the emergency room and the lady at the desk and the lady who came out to confirm if my father needed a gurney had the worst attitudes. I told the intake nurse he can’t sit in a wheelchair and she responded “oh Lord” with a dejected tone. She sent someone out to see him laying in the back of our van and she showed zero concern/empathy. We were so concerned the level of care would match the attitude we already encountered, we took him somewhere else.

I came to the emergency room at the hospital closest to my home seeking help and relief during a medical crisis. Unfortunately, that is not what I experienced. I arrived at 8:00 a.m. and, as I write this, it is now 2:00 p.m. and I still have not been seen by a provider. I initially sat in a waiting room with only one or two other patients, so it wasn’t a big deal.
