I knew the doctor was out of my insurance network, but chose to go anyway because I didn't want to travel 150 miles. I wanted to know up front what it was going to cost, and I was quoted a range with the deduction for paying not using insurance. Low and behold, several weeks later, I got another bill for more than what I had already paid. When I called, they said this was normal as it was a second charge for exam, not just the office visit.
