Beautiful open spaces with plenty of seating options
Quiet refuge in the heart of Chinatown; away from all the noise and traffic. To one side is the family court; the other is criminal court. In front is the federal detention center where the infamous epstein died. Back in the day, NYC got its water here. Back then, as now, denizens didn't care about where they did their business and dumped their trash and whatever here. Today, it's a good spot to chill and watch the birds before going back to the hustle and bustle.
I took the bus downtown so I could explore this part of lower Manhattan. I walked around looking at historic and interesting sites. There are a lot of parks in this area including this one, Collect Pond Park. There are grassy areas, benches and two pond enclosures. No water so maybe they are planning to clean them. Not too interesting right now but if the two ponds were full of water, it might be more attractive,
