I recently retained Coastal to assess the current condition of our rooftop lightning rod system, now nine years old, and to make repairs and/or improvements as necessary. (Coastal did not do the original installation.). It should be noted that no adhesive lasts forever under the unrelenting Florida sun. Any rooftop adhesive will eventually fail. After being struck by lighting several times we contacted a number of different companies for lightning rod system estimates. Our roof has a very steep 12/12 pitch and the ridge line is about 30’ from ground level. Because of this, a few companies wouldn’t even quote the job and some that did quote it gave unreasonably high estimates due to the pitch and height of the roof.
