This is related to my wife’s earlier review of Coast Outdoor Services. This week SRQ magazine gave our home the Platinum Award for Best Overall Home (Bayview House). We’re certain the beautiful landscaping around the home contributed significantly to winning this award. Many thanks to Ray and his entire team at Coast Outdoor Services.
We hired Ray about 1 year ago to landscape our new home on Longboat Key. Ray and his crew did an outstanding job. They started by cost-engineering our original landscape design. Ray found ways to get the looks we were striving for at more favorable prices. Ray has great expertise in tropical horticulture. He was able to help us adjust our plant and tree selections to ensure every tree/plant/shrub would thrive in our wind, sun and salt-air conditions. Hired Ray to do a job and he or his employees never showed up day after day. Eventually I was getting to the deadline to have the work done, and I called Ray and told him next Tuesday is the last day this work can be done and he said he would get over Monday or Tuesday and have it done. Monday I called him and said are you coming today and he said no tomorrow and then the following day he didn’t show up either. Ray did a fabulous job on providing us with the tropical backyard surrounding our newly installed pool. Exactly what we were looking for. However, due to his unresponsiveness we were forced to retain the services of another landscaping firm for monthly maintenance. We also discovered that Ray installed an irrigation controller on the exterior of our shed that is meant for indoor installation. Not satisfied. Ray and his crew cut a Frontier utility line during installation of a sprinkler line. There was a $518 repair bill that he never paid. Three months later, I'm now stuck paying the repair after getting letters from the collection agency. Buyer beware.
