On 5/1/2026 Consumers Energy will be gifted a $276.6 Million rate increase from the customers via the approval of a request submitted to the Michigan Public Service Commission. This is a 6.1 - 8.9% increase in our rates. Since 2020 consumers has received $800,000,000 in rate increases. Those rate increases have been over a 6 year time period. I don’t get why they are just messing with us first shift people and jacking our energy bill up double what it normally is at my house then extending it longer because they don’t have enough money in their pocket as their a multi billion dollar company we are barely getting by and some people are having to get help from the state because there bills are so high do to this peak hour baloney quit trying to pocket more money from us and leave the rates the same year round
