The actual center is wonderful and there are friendly staff always willing to help. However, I would not recommend getting a temporary psychiatrist here, if you do, say no to the male psych. He was extremely rude both towards me and in the file written about me. I was scared, I needed help, and he told me he didnt believe me. His previous negligence has affected parts of my diagnosis process now. I have gotten a full psych evaluation from a trustworthy psychiatrist and a real diagnosis but his papers and hurtful words are st... read more
Extremely hostile environment for anyone who isn't cishet or white. They will openly misgender transgender clients and never bother to correct themselves, and also very insensitive to people from different cultures, especially immigrants.
I am very fortunate to have such a caring and empathetic support team to rely on when I need it. I have never left CMHA feeling bad - the staff are attentive, listen well, show empathy, provide supports (both interpersonal and community supports) and never dismiss your feelings. I can honestly say the team has helped dig me out of some of the ugliest, deep trenches I have found myself in. To know there are people on-site any time you need help is a huge plus. Much love for you all, continue to do God's work!
I am so incredibly grateful for the nursing/support staff here. I use services regularly without issue and I think this is a wonderful place to seek help for many issues, however the one star review is due to their psychiatry service. It is very disheartening to feel that proper treatment, credence, or respect is given only to the experiences of those falling under the cookie cutter straight, cis, white male category of patients.
