RecommendedMy putter fitting exceeded my expectations! Jay did a great job of running SAM with my current putter and reviewing the data confirming I have a good overall stroke. However, he had me try several putter options that were recommended by SAM, along with a shorter shaft based on his observation. Lastly he saw that I was putting a bit of wrist in my stoke with the Golf Pride large grip vs a standard grip. I couldn't believe how much performance changed among different shafts. And not just to spin and launch angle either, making pure contact was heavily shaft dependant for me. Definitely worth the extra expense.
I was nervous about getting a fitting. I'm a high handicapper and I wasn't sure that getting a fitting was right for me. Jay took away any concerns I had about that. He explained clearly what we could fix and what we couldn't. He didn't try and talk me into something I didn't need. Worked on a full bag fitting (3.5 hours) with Evan. Was incredibly impressed with Club Champion's ability to dial in on the optimizations. Evan was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the latest equipment, but about the mechanics of the golf swing. He made a small tweak to my grip pressure that got me hitting the ball more solidly than an equipment change ever could. A fun experience in upgrading an old TaylorMade 300Ti driver (circa 2002) to the Ping G410. I had my doubts about how much the shaft can influence the strike of the golf ball but I discovered for myself that it absolutely can. Evan was fantastic with me and allowed me to test out different driver heads. Even ones he believed wouldn't benefit me as much. Jay was patient and thorough, and got me to hit the driver within 2 yards long/short and 11 yards wide (one wide shot, otherwise it was within 6 yards). Great results, at 272 yards total. A little more money than a blind online pruchase, but much cheaper than trial and error.
