In 1961 the mayor and council- concerned that unwise developement might erode the future quality of life in the borough- established a committee to study the prospects for a nature center. A public association was incorporated in 1962, to which 80 acres of land was leased from the Borough. I attended an event for my nephew's boy scout event. The boys rowed from one side of the pond to the other in a canoe and other residents were fishing. I am not a outdoorsy kinda gal, so I was happy I didn't get a single bug bite but I would recommend wearing shoes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty!
