This is a pretty fun and unique experience in the Seeley Lake area. The canoe trail is about 3 miles from start to ranger station, and there is a nice 1.5 mile shuttling trail back to the start that is fairly flat ground and takes about 20-30 minutes to walk. The water when we went was mostly flat and calm water where it's tough to tell there's flow at all. We paddleboarded it in August, so it may differ earlier in the season. There are lots of pretty views of the valley that make for great pictures, there weren't many bugs,... read more

Absolutely wonderful little paddle. The water is slow and winding which allows space between other people on the rout. After we got some space between the people putting in after us we were alone the whole time. I felt like I could have paddle back up it but by the time we got to the lake we were ready to be on dry ground again. Fun trail! We just had one vehicle so we went down the trail in our 16'kayak, to the lake, and back up. The only problem was missing that last turn. The area by the parking lot is muddy and narrow but it's CLEAR water and wider in the rest of the trail. We saw ducks, a heron, a snake, and fish. This was a great afternoon. We also ran into some friends.

It's a sweet set up with the drop off and the trail back to the drop off point. The river was good and high so it went fast. It is a little hard to see the end of the "trail' so just make a hard left once you hit the lake and head towards the buildings. You will see a little canoe sign when you get closer to the shore.
