Clayton's has an excellent food and service attitude. Our chef Dimitri Xinidis specializes in seafood, unusual appetizers, specialty salads, grouper, salmon, trout almondine, crispy duck, filet mignon, and we have a cult like following for our fish taco's and pizzas. Oh, my! What a find. Excellent food for this first-time customer… from perfect grouper and crispy romaine Caesar salad to house-made key lime pie. Owner’s on site and visits her customers. All the staff is friendly, warm, and on the ball. We ate early on a Friday night, saw several families with kids dining. By the time we left, the place was busy and hopping. We stopped for dinner on a Thursday in March. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our waitress was excellent and seemed to read our minds for what we wanted. She came by frequently, served us quickly, and gave excellent recommendations. We enjoyed our meal greatly.
I’m so grateful this place exists—it truly saved my vacation! After struggling to find a decent restaurant in Sarasota, we stumbled upon Clayton’s Siesta Grille, and it was a breath of fresh air. Terrible dining experience. Service was alright food was prepared wrong twice. Sent it back the first time and you could tell they wiped off the items I requested not to be on burger the first time and just put a new piece of cheese on. When it came back out and bit into the burger it was cooked well done when I asked for medium. The food is way overpriced for what it is will not eat here again. They did remove the burger from the check
The Gnocchi and Scallops... Utterly disappointed. What it lacks in flavor and portion size (both woefully mediocre) it makes up for an exceptionally high price tag for what I actually got. Dry gnocchi...the sauce is more akin to juice from the scallops. A few flavorless tiny tomatoes and three (nice sized) seared scallops. I even asked the runner who brought the food where the sauce was and she had me tilt the bowl to show maybe 2 tablespoons of juice running to the low part of the bowl.
