The original Clay Oven, or Tandoor, was made of clay-earth. It comes from the time of the Mogul Empire that ruled India from the 16th to the 19th centuries. The heat for a tandoor is traditionally generated by a charcoal or wood fire burning inside the oven itself. The clay oven's design exposes meats, fish, and bread to the unique flavors that come from live fires.
