I went in to Dr. Steriade’s office after a spinal tap showed concerning results just to be told I have a mood disorder and needed therapy. I advocated for myself to her and the fellows who work under her, only to be told to try therapeutic techniques like CBT. I ended up seeing another doctor who diagnosed me with autoimmune encephalitis and I needed to be treated immediately.
