I was recommended to Dr. Baumbusch by my physical therapist when my ortho at UVA couldn’t see me for three months and the pain in my shoulder was unbearable. Was able to get in quickly, which was great. I am Muslim, so I was in a tank top maxi dress and an oversized hoodie so that when he came in I could take off my hoodie and he could see my shoulder. He put my shoulder back together after a bad accident. Shoulder is pretty good. He also rebuilt my wife's ankle after a different accident. Also, great work. Top man.
I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Baumbusch and his staff. The efficiency of having full x-ray labs right in the orthopedic suite at Sentara is enhanced by the staff's attentiveness. I never felt "abandoned" in the waiting room, the office, or the xray rooms. There is a feeling of camaraderie in Dr. Baumbusch's office that includes the patient. This is clearly a mood set by Baumbusch himself, who listens, is never dismissive, and is persistent in getting to the bottom of the patient's issue--with referrals when necessary... read more

Dr Baumbusch performed a rotator cuff repair on my right shoulder that failed miserably. I have an insanely high pain tolerance, but for a full year afterwards, I suffered the most horrific pain I had ever experienced. Throughout my ordeal, he was consistently dismissive of my pain. He would ask me a question and be shaking his head “no” before I could finish a one sentence response.
