About this business
In 2016 I founded the Oakland Shading Company because it soothes my soul on several levels. Oakland, shades and my own business. The Oakland Shading Company came about because I really love the city of my birth. I'm also really passionate about window treatments and all signs pointed to me following that path. In 2021 I opened a showroom in Berkeley which has led to the formation of City Shading Ltd. This has given me the capacity to display all the incredible window treatments that are available.

We contacted Kevin to fix a very large Graber sunshade in our living room that we have had for about 10 years. Kevin was very knowledgeable & easy to work with. He made 3 trips to our home. One to assess the problem, one to replace the motor, & one to come back with his assistant to take the huge shade down again to fine tune the motor mechanism so that the shade moves up & down perfectly. I called Kevin about my broken shades. He diagnosed the problem on the phone, educated me about the interior mechanism of my shades, and offered to call the company for me, to see if they would repair them. He ended up finding out good news on my behalf, which he provided to me. All free of charge, just to be helpful. His kindness and expertise astounded me. I will definitely go to him for any future repairs, or if I need new window or shade products. Such a rare and heartening experience!
