About this business
In 2016 I founded the Oakland Shading Company because it soothes my soul on several levels. Oakland, shades and my own business. The Oakland Shading Company came about because I really love the city of my birth. I'm also really passionate about window treatments and all signs pointed to me following that path. In 2021 I opened a showroom in Berkeley which has led to the formation of City Shading Ltd. This has given me the capacity to display all the incredible window treatments that are available.

Kevin was professional and took care of the repairs! He was also upfront about needs and worked through our preferences :)
We have a Queen Anne Victorian in San Francisco with curved tower windows that are notoriously tricky. Kevin was fantastic, he patiently walked us through our options, never pushed us toward anything we didn’t need, and even took the time to repair a broken shade that had been poorly installed by another company (without us even asking!). He was kind, thorough, and clearly takes pride in his work. We’ll definitely be working with him again.
Kevin is amazing. He installed multiple shades (light filtering and room darkening) on different types of windows. Kevin is so knowledgeable and reliable, offering wise advice on shade types and installation. He's efficient and cost competitive, but also very personable. We recommend City Shading and Kevin without hesitation!
