Worst banking experience with Rich Cham.. would avoid him at all costs
I visited the CIBC Queen & Spadina branch on 7 July 2025 to get a certified cheque. • The clerk asked for a plastic Social Insurance Number (SIN) card—something Service Canada stopped issuing in 2014. I’d never even heard of a plastic SIN card, so the request left me completely confused. Apparently, this service was discontinued in 2014. There's no way I would know. • When I offered my valid Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) card, the clerk nudged me to show my passport instead (apparently because it was already on file). Not a good banking experience at all. They scheduled a meeting with me, Herman didn’t show up, and he told management that I was the one who didn’t show up... Not helpful, and they don’t seem to know their own banking products I was the one asking for services—very unprofessional and lacking in competence. To be fair, the receptionist at the front desk was very nice, but unfortunately, that doesn’t help with actual banking operations. ;)
