I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience at this branch while visiting Toronto on holiday. I attempted to use the ATM to check if I could withdraw cash, but after seeing the high transaction fee and unfavorable exchange rate, I canceled the transaction. No money was dispensed, and I took my card and left. To my shock, within 30 minutes, the full transaction amount ($215 CAD) showed up as deducted from my account—despite no cash ever being withdrawn. Worst CIBC branch. Every single time I've come to this branch I have left with a bad experience. Expect to spend 30 mins to complete a simple transaction with a teller. Zero customer service; tellers are rude and ask excessive unnecessary questions and over complicated simple transactions.
I just went to this branch for a bank draft for my new car. I’m a woman and I went with my boyfriend. After everything’s done, the teller who helped us looked at my boyfriend and said “congratulations” although he saw me signing all the documents and knew the car was mine. But then he chose to just look at my boyfriend and say: congratulations. This isn’t the first time something like this had happened. People just assume it’s always the men paying and buying everything.
When their system is down, they do not even apologize. Very un Canadian of them.
