Edited to add: Dr. Khoury and CHOC, my condition does factually exist and a small, private hospital was able to provide imaging that immediately showed I have isolated cortical failure in my lower left moiety of my duplex system with anatomical complexity (divisum). In 2015, I was diagnosed at the Mayo Clinic by their entire Urology Department with a rare congenital condition requiring surgical consultation: a duplicated collecting system with fusion anomaly, also referred to in literature as renal divisum or embedded kidney. This diagnosis was confirmed with imaging, clinical correlation, and discussion of surgical intervention. Dr. Khoury said my diagnosis- from the entire Mayo Clinic Uro Department in 2015 for surgical consultation- did not exist and that there is no reference of embedded kidneys in medical literature. The Mayo Clinic saved my life. By contrast, Dr. Khoury provided absolutely no help whatsoever. I think I will continue to trust that Mayo knew what they were doing. This is gonna be the 5th day I tried calling this center to get an appt for my son, they never answer! When are you guys gonna pick up the phone?? Someone has got to do something!
I came here when I was 16 with a serious urinary problem. They dragged the process on with useless uroflows and medication for 2 whole years. They refused to let me see the doctor so I only saw nurses and the condition kept getting worse. Now I'm 18 and going to another urology center. My condition is terrible and life-long now. It could have been prevented if they took me seriously they kept doing infection tests, uroflows and feedback for like the 12th time even though it was obvious it didn't show anything. then the next ... read more
