Pain management Dept is Horrible!! Communication is terrible. They can’t even communicate between departments. Gave it a 2nd try and nope! Don’t waste your family time.
Just got home from a 4 night stay. Our 4 month old came down with what we thought was the flu on Thursday, took him to our local urgent care on Saturday morning and due to his struggle breathing, they recommended going up to Children's immediately. I had no time to run home to pack & headed right up to St Paul. Upon arrival, we were promptly seen in the Emergency Department and immediately brought back to be put on oxygen and monitored. I have had all 6 of my kids at this hospital where I was born here. Me and my family have been a part of this hospital for over 60 years it's definitely a staple in the community. There is so many good nurses and doctors here while there is a couple nurses and a couple of doctors here that did leave a bad taste in my mouth, but it's not the hospital it's some of the people working here that don't always have good bed side manner or respect for other people. Children’s took phenomenal care of my little guy when he got viral meningitis, and later came back for another rare complication. They diagnosed him quickly both times and the entire care team was so good with him. My big complaint is that the nurses really need basic lactation knowledge, and made a pretty big mistake. I brought a bunch of frozen breastmilk when he stayed at the hospital. I asked the nurse to store it in the freezer right away. She said no problem, scanned the milk, and stored it.
